The Peterhouse 51st birthday party was themed ‘Totally Tropical’. Staff at Peterhouse and NABS prepared for the celebrations with much enthusiasm.

Residents and guests arrived to Reggae music and a welcome tropical cocktail. Everyone dressed in bright colours and were given an Hawaiian lei or a pair of funky sunglasses to wear.

Various guests came from far and wide to join our lovely residents including:

The Deputy Mayor and his wife Cllr Azad and Mrs Khaleda Azad.

John and Marjorie Page attended.

The Peterhouse Board and our amazing volunteer group, the Friends of Peterhouse… Also NABS staff from the London office – Diana Tickell (our CEO); Nicky Harris Executive Director; Beverley Lawson Financial Controller;  Katrina Urban; Roseanna Morrell and Parveen Bhangu.

Some people were able to achieve effortless glamour …

Whilst others struggled a little… oh dear!

Some walked the hot coals into the party!

Sara Whalley (Director of Operations) led everyone in singing and swaying to the song ‘By the Rivers of Babylon’ before formally welcomed guests and commencing meal service.

Guests tucked into an authentic Caribbean feast prepared by our Peterhouse chefs. Starters included  sole goujons  with a mango and lime dip;  mains of Jamaican chicken, spiced pork and beans or savoury stuffed papaya all served with coconut rice, buttered cabbage, sweetcorn and peppers. Dessert options included tropical fruit sorbet served in pineapples, with fresh banana bread, or Flan de Cirvela (prune flan with cinammon creme).

After dinner speeches were led by Keith Fowler (Chair of the Peterhouse Board and NABS Trustee) who thanked everyone concerned and Diana Tickell (NABS CEO) who spoke about NABS and congratulated the Peterhouse team on more awards this year. Clive Atkins thanked everyone on behalf of residents.

More guests arrived at 2pm for the drinks party and ‘Totally Tropical Buffet’, when they mingled with residents.

At 3pm entertainment started from the steel band ‘Sussex Steel’. Guests enjoyed lots of classic tunes and we even had dancers… ahem!

The summer party is always a great celebration, and a chance for friends to gather and have fun, this year was no exception.

It was all terribly serious!
